Field Manager, Secure Fisheries

Primary Role:

The Field Manager will lead catch data collection efforts, including Project Kalluun, and engagement efforts with the Federal Government of Somalia Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources (FGS MFMR). The field manager will play crucial role in raising funding for Secure Fisheries projects in Somalia and for that matter will closely coordinate with the OEF Business Development team. The Field Manager will direct other team members who are working on Project Kalluun and any others in our office in Mogadishu. The Field Manager will report to the Secure Fisheries Director.

Compensation:

IC4 Level plus two weeks EID Bonus with full health benefits, transportation, and cell phone allowances.

Primary Responsibilities:

  •  Head the implementation of the catch data collection projects (Including project Kallun) at the Somali region and potentially WIO countries, ensuring that the program’s ultimate, intermediate, and immediate outcomes are achieved.
  •  Lead fisheries catch data collection efforts by coordinating existing Project Kalluun sites and spearheading expansion efforts to new sites.
  •  Manage project budget within approved spending levels and ensure accurate and timely financial reports to donors.
  •  Work with members of the FGS MFBE to build capacity and knowledge for fisheries catch data collection, analysis and reporting.
  •  Collect these data in an organized and searchable database.
  •  Coordinate with SF team to build connections between local realities and national policies
  •  Engage with donors and other international groups to seek funding for SF projects in the country.
  •  Collaborate with BD team to develop funding proposals and budgets that align with programmatic priorities and donor requirements
  •  Closely coordinate with the BD team
  •  Perform any other job-related duties as assigned/requested.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

This position is open to an enthusiastic and dedicated individual with fisheries data collection experience, and strong ties to the Somali fisheries and fishing community.

General skills and required experience include:

  •  B achelor’s degree in Fisheries and Marine Science, Development studies, or another relevant field; M aster’s degree strongly preferred;   eIW8sRm B2w2ml
  •  Experience in catch data collection and analysis;
  •  Experience in project monitoring and evaluation
  •  Experience in program/proposal development
  •  Fluency in English (oral and written) and Somali (oral and written);
  •  Good computer skills (required: spreadsheets);
  •  Ability to work as a team and take direction;
  •  Ability to lead and manage other workers;
  •  Strong adherence to deadlines;
  •  Self-motivated and autonomous worker;
  •  Strong writing skills in both technical and general audience venues; and
  •  Commitment to both the Secure Fisheries and O ne Earth Future Foundation ‘s mission and values.

Physical Work Demands:

  •  Able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
  •  Able to bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
  •  Able to lift and move up to 25 lbs regularly.
